Value of the Month

The Value of the Month for December is Knowledge
In Doctrine & Covenants 88:118 it says: "And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith."

Review your Personal Progress book this week and set a goal to complete at least one of the Knowledge value experiences.

There is no better time to obtain a good education than in your youth. Take advantage of the educational opportunities available to you and search for knowledge in all areas. As you do so you will come to appreciate all the Lord has given you and you will be more prepared to embrace the challenges that you will be faced with in the future. <3

Have you accepted the challenge?

Have you accepted the challenge from the Young Women general presidency?
I love this. And I am in.

Sister Mary N. Cook, First Counselor in the General Young Women Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said in April 2009, "Daily habits of righteous behavior will ... help you to continually hold fast to the [iron] rod. As a Young Women general presidency we have invited all of the young women in the world to develop three daily habits:

First, pray to your Father in Heaven, morning and night, every day.

Second, read the Book of Mormon for at least five minutes every day.

And third, smile! Why? We have the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, which brings us true happiness."

In an effort to accept this call to action AND to better keep the words of today's Apostles and Prophets at the forefront of their lives, a group of LDS youth and their leaders created the "Smile Challenge" and have invited LDS youth from around the world to join them. There's even an independent facebook group and a blog with encouragement for the challenge.

Reaching Out to Our Girls

I serve as the young women secretary in our ward. We are a fairly new presidency and still learning. One thing we are always looking for is a better way of reaching out to our girls; to keep them up to date on activities and give them Personal Progress helps. We have been making monthly calendars for them but by the time we get it printed there are so many revisions from the ward calendar that they're outdated! I've spent a lot more money on paper and ink than I probably should have! While I was working on our calendar for 2010 the idea of a blog struck me. Blogging is a new adventure for me. I'm not very expressive or what I would consider creative so I will be looking to all of you experts out there for help with this! <3>
